Newsletter 14th Nov 2020

Dear Members and Friends,

As promised in the Christmas/New Year edition of Over the Bridges, here is our brief newsletter to keep you up to date with your History Society. Sadly, we have had no meetings at The Jubilee Hall since February, but we look forward to a time when our popular programme of speakers will be able to start again. At the time of writing, it is still not clear when this might be. The Acting Committee was able to meet in a garden in early August to discuss future plans but has not met since then although we are in frequent contact by email and phone.

The Acting Committee Members are Shona Walker, Rob Walker, Dave Gordon, Isobel Gordon, Averil Fendley, Anthea Logan-Wood and David Roche. Our Society Constitution allows for up to10 Committee Members in total so it is hoped that when things return to “normal” and an AGM can be held, the Committee numbers will grow, and the various designated roles can be agreed and voted on.  If you would be interested in taking on a Committee role in the future, do let us know on the email address below.

Financial Matters: Fortunately, our Treasurer, June Hasson, was able to audit the Society’s accounts before retiring from the Committee in May 2020. These accounts have now been finalised and signed off by Thomson Bathgate, many thanks to him. Please see the attached copy of the accounts. Shona Walker is our Acting Treasurer and Dave Gordon and David Roche have volunteered their services as further signatories to our account held at Lloyds Bank.

Communications: Averil Fendley and Rob Walker have been working together to ensure that we have a fully functioning mailing list of our members and friends. If you know of anyone who has not been contacted by the History Society recently or who would like to be, could you ask them to send an email to roth.coqhist@yahoo.com so that the mailing and membership lists can be updated.  With all good wishes to all our members and friends.
